Remember This?

Girls my age will surely remember getting this booklet called "Growing Up and Liking It" at the yearly top-secret menstruation talk. Only the girls (and their moms) were allowed to attend, and I recall the cafeteria windows being covered with rolls of butcher paper so that no boys could peek in. LOL, how ridonkulous!
I found a pristine 1962 edition of this fab little book while I was estate saling yesterday and I HAD to have it. It's full of great tips like 'no violent exercise', be sure to 'change out of wet duds when you get caught in the rain', take it easy when dancing and more.

Hilarious! I remember some movie about a girl getting a sweater from her mom when she had her period. Gag. I of course started my period during a soccer tournament and told my mom I was sure I was bleeding because I was kicked in the crotch. My mom didn't buy it for a second...and I'm still waiting on my sweater.

Meg we are such twin travelers, JUST this morning I was telling someone at the gym about you starting your period at a soccer game and thinking you got kicked in the crotch. It gets better, we go home she insists on wearing a pad for her next game. As the pad spent most of the times sideways she realized that would not work for the next game and would have to attempt the dreaded tampon. She would NOT let me show her anything or come in the bathroom, so I am on the outside of the door giving instructions and it is not working, so finally I use the nail to let myself into the yellow bathroom and realize she has inserted the whole thing, tube and all....if she hadn't been so mortified I could have wet my pants. If I get right on it that sweater could be ready for Hads.

oh Meggie, love you! I remember trying to put in a tampon for the first time, at Sun Valley of all places. Could NOT do it, I got too scared when I actually FOUND (by feel, who would LOOK) the right place. :-)
