"Bob"

I've noticed when reading the obits lately that there are a LOT of dead guys named Robert, whose obituary always reads: Googleheim, Robert "Bob".  Now WHY does the family think we need to be told the guy went by Bob???  It's kind of a given in my world.  I can see the need if your name is say George but everyone knew you as "Crazy Larry" or something.

This led to a discussion between Jon and I this morning.  We agreed we want NO "nicknames" on our obits (in fact, Jon says he doesn't want people to find out he's dead).  UNLESS the family will print his obit as: Sundstrom, Jon "Pinkstapork"...

ok P, that sounds fine. Just don't print Laurie "Laur" or some such stupid thing. Lavs Plack=fine.

Oh Jon it will not just be "pinkstaport" there are a whole host of nicknames we will include (might be the longest obit ever!!) People who name their children "BOB" same forward as backward are not real wild..though the Davis' went WAY out on a limb and would use "Bobby" every once in a while!!

Bobby=wild nickname. Kind of like the Longinottis naming everyone Tony (even the dog).
