Dad's WWII Letters to Mom

I have a giant stack of letters our Dad wrote to Mom during his service in World War II, and I'm scanning them.  I'll create a book for Mom to have and I hope she enjoys it.

I've never read the letters before, and I'm really enjoying them.  Dad was an 18 year old in 1942, in basic training in San Diego in the first batch of letters.  So sweet!

Are you sure he wasn't 17???

they start in November 1942, so I was thinking 18 when he got to basic training. Right?

That is so cool that you have those. And what a great idea to put together a book.

I have read the first 5 or 6 of them, what a treat. I am loving that each of them begin with no letter from mom yet, and that he writes that in a letter in and morning and again in the afternoon. His references to Toddie and Reenee are fun too. I am adoring these L. In the meantime Lisa has unearthed the same kind of mail to mom from Duane...wondering if the time period is the same...and that is why dad was slow in getting letters!! The little minx!!

haha, she had all kinds of romances going on I believe.

Dad is so adorable and sweet, makes me love him even more. Haven't started yet on the letters when he is actually out of basic training, but those should be interesting.
