I have NEVER been able to accomplish a 'provisional cast on' using a knitting needle and crochet hook. Besides being completely left-handed, I'm an utterly inept crocheter.
My smart sister Susna suggested
Lucy Neatby's video on how to do the PCO (that's Lucy over there, not Susna!) By golly, I did it! Not that I wasn't still a total spaz with the crochet hook, but I actually did it! Yay and thanks, Lucy!

it is the BEST PCO EVER - and I am right with you and the crochet hook finesse!
okay, just getting back from a week in snowy/freezing Atlanta, did answer on your Mexican train blog. While gone I read and finished Guernsey, OMG I am seriously considering that for a best book ever. As I was voraciously nearing the end I became so sad, I didn't want to let any of those people go. I couldn't put it down, I read all the comments, I read all the aknowledgements and the title page. That wasn't enough so I started it again. ANYONE READING THIS GET THAT BOOK!!!
Guernsey was SOOOO great, I just finished it too!!! and i totally agree that it should have kept going :)
and i kinda love the lady with the pink hair.
Lucy's hair is pretty crazy, maybe I should try it. And yay that you loved Guernsey too! I didn't want it to end either, and read every single thing including the dedication, the blurbs on the back and more. PBS is doing a series on the Channel Islands during the war, which could be interesting.
ok - you guys need to pass these books on to me - I am so out of the loop - last thing I read was BOOM!
Oh Yes, Laurie! Please try Lucy's hair style and color. It would be precious on you.
I thought maybe Lucy's hair was what you crocheted. Mom, give me that book, I've finished your People magazine already.
oh really, you have finished your last ever copy of People from me, get it back sister...I'm in a slow stew.
People is too 'feel good' with all those everyday hero articles. Read the Star, straight out gossipy trash.
