Getting Creative in the Kitchen

I'm faced with a giant box of fresh organic produce every week.  Which means I have to cook, not my favorite thing.  But I'm trying to be good about using up what's in the box, which varies from week to week.

This week, we got 2 stalks of rhubarb and a small box of strawberries (which were so delicious!)  I didn't have enough of either to make a pie, so opted for strawberry-rhubarb crisp, and added an apple to make enough to fill a smallish baking pan.  Topped with organic oatmeal/flour/stick of butter and cinnamon.  YUM.  It was delicious!  And tasted even better for breakfast this morning.

also, look up epicurious on your touch (you have an iTouch don't you?) It's a great app. Type in an ingredient and all sorts of recipes come up.

Are you kidding me with the "you do have an Itouch" comment, Ms. Demco? If it's cool and techy, I don't got it.

Sounds yummy. Will have to give the recipe a try.

My husband, who does the cooking made Strawberry Rhubarb sauce yesterday which I am using on vanilla or plain yogurt.

We have a similar program here in SE PA and it was my very first taste of Rhubarb.

ooh the sauce sounds yum too. I love rhubarb. Jon and Lorraine made a rhubarb "applesauce" last season, which the boys loved putting on oatmeal. Yay for rhubarb, the plant that will survive the nuclear holocaust.

One of us has an iPod touch mom. I could probably help you out with that. :)

You are a good person, I do not think I could do this. The last thing I want to do each night is work with a mystery food...sigh.
