Revisiting an Old Friend

My favorite series as a kid (besides NANCY DREW of course!) was "Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle". In a crazed effort to maintain calm and avoid car crashes, I've been getting books on CD from the library for the boys to listen to while we drive to our various destinations. I found Mrs. P-W, and offered it to the gang. They all turned up their noses (obvs it is a 'girl book', there's a lady in the title!), but I played it anyway because I wanted to hear it.
They loved Mrs. P-W too! Every day, they immediately quieted down and asked me to play the CD so we could all hear about the latest naughty child and how he/she gets cured by the amazing Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle. I really had fun listening to the stories again. brought me right back to Madrona Street of about 40 years ago.
We're listening to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory now, and enjoying that one too. Yay for books on CD! You've saved my sanity!
And Tate should be watching for some Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle magic in the mail real soon...

I heart Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle. Probably my favorite book series that you read to us when we were little. Crazy woman with her crazy house! And always so tricky!

Oh my, the emotions and memories you just brought back. I remember cuddling up in my giant princess bed everynight and my Mama reading me these books...you kind of just brought a tear to my eye and made me super excited for Hads to grow up. LONG LIVE PW!

tear here too. You are most likely the reason I love Mrs. P so. Can't imagine they are any longer p.c. but I will keep them living on. I remember Mrs. Kelly used to give us "hurry up" pills when we were slow to do our work, and had some other "cures" too. Very fun memories.

totally NOT PC. All the mothers were June Cleaver clones who stayed home and all the dads smoked their pipes and put their feet up while them moms did all the housework etc. and the girls all wore dresses to school. But still LOVE MPW to death.
