Do you have a guilty pleasure, book-wise? Mine is true crime. I'm a sucker for Ann Rule and the like. I'm currently reading "Erased: Missing Women, Murdered Wives" by Marilee Strong. Yeah, it's about as tacky as it sounds (actually, she spent quite a few years studying cases like Scott Peterson, etc and formulates some interesting theories about 'eraser' killers, but still...)
I try to atone by listening to Charles Dickens' "Great Expectations" while I'm driving.

I LOVE Ann Rule. I've taken a break, or at least I DID when Kip was working at SkyWest. There were A LOT of nights that I would wake up scared and drive to my parents.
Guilty Pleasures - I have a few. I love reading vampire books, Anne Rice is great.
I also have TV guilty pleasures - reruns of Angel and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, oh and then there's also the reruns of Charmed. My friends think I'm nuts!
ONLY read Ann Rice NEVER listen to one of her taped books, you will not be able to careen off the road fast enough to stop having to hear her voice. My GP is probably a Dick Francis, though I haven't had one in awhile.
Uck, hate true crime. FREAKS ME OUT! Too much of a scaredy cat. You're quite the brave little toaster, I can't do it. I still can't get out of bed at night without thinking of Gage (little boy from Pet Cemetary) slicing my achilles with a scalpel.
eek I'd forgotten about that book. I don't read S. King anymore but used to be a big fan. I had to keep the lights on and have a child sleep with me for about 3 weeks after reading "It" (and of course I hated the killer clown in that one)
First, I love that there is a "fear of gravity"! Clearly, those people all dream of living on the moon.
My guilty pleasure is really a genre more then an author. You know I love the young adult/teen books. I wish we had as many great writers when I was a teenager, but I'm loving slogging through it now. Top of the list currently is still the Twilight series, but I have quite a few that I love! Just keep me away from the really scary stuff. NO true crime for me!
when i was in college i used to love books about serial killers, usually written by an fbi profiler. no wonder im as crazy as i am!
like mother like daughter!
