Separated at Birth Again?

As I was adding pattern books to my website, I couldn't help but think our Hads could've done very well as a children's model back in 1941. Look at those matching chubby cheeks!

The Annual Christmas Panic

Every year, I think "hmmm if I put away gifts all year, why I won't be in panic mode in December". Do I do this? Of course not!
So now it is a mere 13 days till Christmas, and I think I have purchased a total of 5 gifts (3 of which are evidently lost in the mail) So I approach the holidays in a merry state of panic! NO gifts, NO ideas. But hopefully I'll get inspired here soon (and Santa will start raining hundreds down the chimney)
If not, I always think a gift has much more impact when it is given after the event-- no competition with piles of other presents right? ;-)
It's my day off today! Fluther Central is an absolute pigsty, so I thought I might spend a little time cleaning. Or I might just curl up with a warm blankie and a cuppa joe and a good book.

Tuesday News-day

not really, it's been a pretty quiet day here at Fluther HQ. I'm knitting the front bands of Scandinavian cardigan #4 and then need to find a spot to block three sweaters. I think the boys will look adorable in their matching sweaters! I know you fashionistas hate the red turtlenecks they wear at Christmas, but they will look cute with these sweaters, maybe I can keep all four of them still enough to get a picture.

I'm making progress at the library, the boss no longer has to check my work in Adult fiction and non-fiction. Victory! (the other page still has to have his work checked, neener neener) There was a family there tonight, a mom and I think 3 little kids (seemed like more), they were a total tornado of activity. Since I was working in the little kids' picture book section, they 'helped' me out by tearing through all the videos, books and etc, plus swinging on the tree sculpture. 8:00 closing time couldn't come soon enough lol.

Project Runway Needs Her!

Tatum is STILL wearing the dress I knit for her ages ago!

What a cute peanut! NOBODY can put together an outfit like Tater.
It's a little hard to tell in the picture, but the dress has a fancy schmancy zebra print at the hemline. Perfect for Miss Fashionista. It's from a Dale of Norway baby book.

Sleepover!

Who doesn't love a sleepover! Mom let me bring Riveria home for an overnight visit! Even though it's a school night! We're hoping the snow will keep falling and we will get a snow day tomorrow. Tonight we are going to walk over to the neighborhood around the corner that is all decked out in lights.

My Fave Christmas Stuff

Pia is complaining because I am not blogging, so here is my list of things I love about Christmas:

  1. Christmas Music. The BEST thing about cable is having the music channel that plays Christmas music 24/7. And my favorite music? I'm a little bit schitzo; I enjoy just about everything from medieval chants to Bruce Springsteen's version of Santa Claus is Coming to Town. I have even been known to sing along to "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer".

My fave holiday movies: "It's a Wonderful Life" and "White Christmas". I know everyone loves "A Christmas Story" and I like it too (how can you not love Ralphie and 'fragil-ey') but these two are my absolute faves and I watch them every year. And I get a tear in the eye when Harry Bailey says, "To my brother George, the richest man in town".

Taking the boys to visit Santa Claus. Is there ANYTHING better than a true believer in Santa?

Having my babies come home for Christmas! Only 8 days till Car-Car and Tonsy come home! You cannot know how happy I am to have my far away babies coming home for a visit.

Hand knit Christmas stockings. Totally Xmas-y!

Wishing I had really cheesy lawn ornaments. I long for the giant snow globe, the nodding reindeer, the millions of lights. And what do I have? The single Charlie Brown string of lights, that has been up since last year and we still haven't managed to plug in.

Peppermint Bark. And sugar cookies with sprinkles and/or frosting, preferably decorated by little kids who love the whole process and lay on the frosting and decorations with gusto.

The very best thing? Watching little kids on Christmas morning, when they first dash into the living room and see that Santa has been there! I have so many great memories of my kids, the boys, and of course from my own childhood (the best was the year B-Z and I got a dollhouse AND a Barbie dream car. We screamed and hugged)
