A room!
The upstairs bathroom isn't getting a big do over at this point. Just a new toilet seat, fancy shower apparatus and a pretty blue pant job:

A Friend for Margaret
Mary the creepy puppet baby doll was discovered on a closet shelf. She's now overseeing the remodel.
There's a New Worst Job
It's no longer scraping or sanding ceilings. The new worst job is removing two layers of linoleum. Pray that this is included in the installation.

Progress
We are making good progress, even if we still feel like we are in the middle of a giant mess. Katie and I have been busy sanding everything that doesn't move, Cara got a coat of primer on the cabinet doors, Pia and I hauled heavy bags of yard waste to the curb and she got a coat of paint on the bathroom walls, and Tony handled electrical matters before he had to head out on the road for the week.
Here's the aftermath of ceiling sanding:

The Scrape
Ceilings are popcorn free! What a messy job that was.
Sad to say that ripping up the carpets did NOT reveal hardwood floors. Boo.

Job #1
Sanding the kitchen cabinets. Next is scraping the popcorn ceilings. If you're smart, you won't drop by, or you'll be handed a scraper....
For The Dads
In honor of Father's Day, here's a link to "The Mad Men Guide to Being a Father"
Priceless do's and don'ts from the worst dads of the 1960s!
Only matched in parenting skills by Betty Draper when she warned Sally that the dry cleaning had better not be in heaps on the floor:
Shawl Mania
Why do I keep knitting shawls? I really don't go anywhere that requires flinging a shawl around my shoulders. But I enjoy the knitting so I guess I don't need a reason...
I just finished this one:
I just finished this one:
The pattern is "Dragon's Hope" and the yarn colorway is called "Red Wedding". Combining my two obsessions nicely -- shawl knitting and Game of Thrones.

A Bad Seed
I often find little notes and hand written patterns tucked into the vintage knitting & crochet books I sell. Today I found this postcard, dated October 1945, and addressed to "Jack Marlowe, W 2007 Grace, City". It's from North Central High School's Principal's Office.
Apparently Rachel was absent on October 30th, and the principal wants an explanation. Wonder what Rachel was up to?
I think I might take it over to NC and see if they'd like to have it. They may want to add this note to Rachel's Permanent File.
