excellent work Zaide! I can see Mrs. Fountain taught you well!

Hey you little Haiku whores...you're not even doing it right!!!! It's five, seven, five. B-Z and Lavs are disqualified. And Mrs. Fountain was a bad teacher.

don't dis the F. She was the BEST. And you are just high on the fact that you managed to work 'phalanges' into a haiku. Your mother and I are poets, not bean counters. We're still in the contest (well she is)

you have stirred the poetic juices so thought it was a fine time to unearth one of my earlier masterpieces...you all remember "Joseph" (and the time of year couldn't be more perfect!!
Joseph, you helped Mary in the cold,
You helped her in the wind so bold,
You found a place that wasn't the best,
But at least a person could sit and rest
(dramatic pause) Joseph.

You stood by her side from day to night,
You told her about the moon so bright,
You weren't a farmer, miller or clown,
You worked as a carpenter til the sun went down.
Joseph.
(why oh why did I not continue in tis vein, another lost talent!!)
I will have to dig out the prequel "Witches" come Halloween.
(L, I know that something is shooting out your nose at this moment)

OMG Zaide, you are too hilarious. "Joseph" may be the best/worst thing I've ever read! And i liked the Virginia haiku, if only it had actually been a legit haiku...

omg JOSEPH!!! DRAMATIC PAUSE. We were such great authors. Maybe we need to revive Bits of Fairy Business. And sorry folks, even tho this is not haiku, I have to award the prize to B Davis for her dramatic holiday poem JOSEPH.

really? You've never heard the most dramatic recitation of a poem EVER? Def. make her read it on Xmas, but don't be drinking anything during the reading. You've been warned.

was it bits o' fairy business or "of". Amazing that we did not pursue journalism.
